Breaking Ground: The new Davie County High School celebrates ground breaking
GREENSBORO, NC (September 25, 2014) – Davie County Schools will celebrate the ground breaking of the new Davie County High School on Thursday, September 25, 2014 at 4:30 PM at the construction site on Farmington Road in Mocksville, North Carolina.
The new school, serving grades 9-12, will provide open, collaborative learning environments, expanding the capacity to nearly 2,000 students. Over a decade in the making, the new single and three-story mix, 300,000-square-foot facility is centrally located in the county and will replace the existing school due to overcrowding. Spaces include an auditorium, practice gym, and state-of-the-art classrooms. Designed to be environmentally friendly, strategies such as energy efficient systems, green roofs, and various LEED design concepts are included. The current facility will be partially demolished and repurposed at a later date. Walter Robbs Callahan & Pierce Architects, PA, based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, is the architect.

“We’re excited to see this project come to fruition,” said Aaron B. Bopp, P.E., principal and structural engineer. “It’s great the county has been able to unite and create a new, state-of-the-art educational facility to give their students, faculty, and staff opportunities to learn and grow.”
