Dave Tepke shares case study at upcoming NC AWWA-WEA Conference
At the NC AWWA-WEA Annual Conference, Dave Tepke, PE, of SKA and Danny Briggs, EI, CDT of the City of Greensboro Water Resources Department will share a recent project case study: Mitchell Water Treatment Plant. The talk focuses on the issues with an aging water treatment facility. Mitchell Water Treatment Plant has the ability to produce about 24 million gallons of water per day. The filter house, sedimentation basins and mixing chambers were mainly constructed in the 1950’s with additions in the early 1960’s. This condition assessment and repair project is a case study to supplement discussion on the types of chemical and environmental exposures in typical water treatment facilities, as well as historical concrete quality requirements in industry standard building codes as they influence resistance to those exposures.
