SKA awarded multiple contracts totaling over $1.5 million in potential revenue
GREENSBORO, NC (October 26, 2014) – SKA is thrilled to announce it has recently been awarded contracts for engineering design, investigation, and repair projects totaling over $1.5 million in potential revenue in markets across the southeast. The wins are in direct response to a targeted marketing strategy and increased market demand for engineering services.
SKA’s Greensboro headquarters location recently won several open-end agreements with two of the leading higher education institutions in the region – North Carolina A&T State University (NC A&T) and Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC), as well as a significant renovation project for one of Greensboro’s leading architecture firms, Teague, Freyaldenhoven, Freyaldenhoven Architects & Planners, LLP (TFF).
NC A&T awarded SKA an Open-end Service Agreement for structural engineering, which is in place through 12/30/2016. This contract has a $50,000 per project design fee limit with a $500,000 design fee aggregate. This win expands SKA’s long-term relationship with NC A&T, where it has performed over 100 projects within the past 15 years.
Guilford Technical Community College (GTCC) recently awarded SKA three Open-end Service Agreements for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing engineering. Each Open-end Agreement is for one year, renewable for one additional year, and accounts for annual fees not-to-exceed (NTE) $150,000 in total value for a maximum of $300,000 total for each Open-end Service Agreement. Collectively, this equates to potential revenue of $900,000 over the term of the agreements. These wins expand SKA’s long-term relationship with GTCC, where it has performed over 40 projects within the past 25 years.
TFF Architects & Planners recently awarded SKA a contract, through Guilford County Schools, for Western High School ‘s Athletic Improvements and Renovations project, which involves the design of a new 22,800-square-foot gymnasium, renovation of 6,600-square-foot auxiliary gymnasium into dining space, renovation of the current gymnasium into an auxiliary gymnasium, and interior upgrades to administrative spaces. SKA is performing mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection services. This project expands a long-term relationship between TFF and SKA with over 100 collaborative projects in less than 20 years.
SKA’s Birmingham, Alabama, branch office continues its long-term relationship with the University of Alabama (UA) with two new contracts for Woods Hall and Bryant-Denny Stadium. These project wins push the total number of projects with UA to over 150 in the past seven years.
The University of Alabama Woods Hall project includes the historic restoration of cast iron and wrought iron railings and the restoration of the load bearing mass masonry walls for this nearly 150-year-old building. The first building on campus constructed after the Civil War, it was built utilizing bricks from the buildings destroyed in the war. Woods Hall houses the Department of Art and Art History.
The University of Alabama Bryant-Denny Stadium project includes executing re-roofing and waterproofing repairs at the stadium. Recognized as one of the highest profile stadiums in the southeast, the second largest stadium in the Southeast Conference, and the fifth largest college stadium in the nation, the current facility was constructed in 1929 and is home to the 15-time national champions – the Alabama Crimson Tide football team.
SKA’s Wilmington, North Carolina, branch was also recently awarded two significant projects, including DuneRidge Resort in Wrightsville Beach and Olde Towne Yacht Club in Beaufort. Both projects entail the restoration of concrete slab and facade waterproofing repairs.
SKA’s impact on the built environment in North Carolina, the southeast, and across the country includes recently completed projects, such as: the Greensboro Aquatic Center, Sandpiper Run Condominiums in South Carolina, various projects at the University of Alabama, the new Buncombe County Courts building in Asheville, First Presbyterian Church renovations in Greensboro, WFU Baptist Medical Center Pediatric Emergency Department, renovations at the Biltmore Estate, multiple international projects for Tyco Electronics, and renovation and expansion projects for the City of Greensboro Coliseum, among others.
