SKA engineers present and serve as subject matter experts (SMEs) during ICRI Carolinas Chapter Fall Convention

Dave and BobGREENSBORO, NC (October 20, 2015) – Robert G. Kennerly, Sr., P.E., SKA co-founder and senior structural consultant, and Dave G. Tepke, P.E., technical specialist, will present and serve as SMEs this week during the 2015 International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI) Carolinas Chapter Fall Convention in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Tepke will present, “Specifications for Concrete Repairs,” which will provide an overview of “best practices” for concrete repair specifications for different types of projects and distress to a large, regional “who’s who” audience in concrete repair, including owners, manufacturers, distributors, contractors, educators and engineers. Successful implementation of a concrete repair project requires a firm grasp of the problem and effective communication of the solution through clear specifications. Key aspects will be discussed, including specification of appropriate strategies and material properties, use of prescriptive and performance-based material specifications, and use of quality assurance testing for confirming work.

The presentation will be provided to owners, vendors, and professional service providers on Friday, October 23, 2015, at the Executive Development Center.

Kennerly is co-authoring a talk, “Longevity in Concrete Repairs at the Forsyth County Government Center,” with Jim Hadley, senior project sales representative at Sika Corporation, serving as an SME and advisor to answer questions regarding the project. He is also participating amongst others as an expert panel member for the “Blue Ribbon Panel Discussion” to discuss a variety of financial, liability, technical and implementation topics. The case study and Blue Ribbon Panel Discussion will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2015, also at the Executive Development Center.
