SKA presenting at the 2018 ASCE NC Section Spring Technical Seminar
SKA’s John Mancuso and Mike Parker will be presenting at ASCE’s NC Section Spring Technical Seminar.
John’s presentation will discuss the design process utilized for the Steven Tanger Center for Performing Arts and the specific challenges faced when designing the structure of a performing arts center. Discussion will include a design review of the balcony, the stage house, and the lateral bracing system. There will also be a review of the coordination required between the structural framing and the mechanical and acoustical systems.
Mike’s presentation will focus on roller compacted concrete. RCC has emerged as an economical material and rapid method of construction for a variety of applications, including gravity dams, overflow structures and heavy duty pavements. Described as a zero slump concrete, RCC is placed with standard or high-density paving equipment and compacted with rollers to achieve a durable, wear resistant surface.
