Tepke Talks Concrete at Upcoming ACI Carolinas Fall Seminar
Interested in learning about effective use of Performance-Based Specifications (PBS) in place of prescriptive requirements for ready-mixed concrete? Join Dave Tepke, PE, at the ACI Carolinas Fall Seminar September 26 in Concord, NC, as he discusses the differences between the two approaches; project factors that influence strategy; and key aspects and potential benefits of using PBS from the perspectives of the designer, contractor and producer. Dave will talk about historical aspects of prescriptive requirements such as water-cement ratio and cement content, as well as tests and criteria for performance characteristics including strength, ASR, shrinkage, chloride penetrability and others. As part of a separate presentation, he will discuss key aspects of Concrete Surface Repairs, including questions one should ask themselves before preparing specifications; important provisions to include in specifications, important properties for repair materials, helpful guide documents to have, and considerations for addressing corrosion of embedded steel. Earn 7 PDH’s. The program also includes speakers discussing other important topics such as concrete testing, pavement preservation, magnesium phosphate cements and others.
