M.C. Benton, Jr., Convention and Civic Center

Located adjacent to two national hotel-branded properties, the M.C. Benton, Jr. Convention and Civic Center creates the Twin City Quarter Complex, offering hospitality and meeting facilities for mid-size to large-scale regional and national events. The facility provides exhibit space, ballrooms, and pre-function spaces to provide the ultimate experience.

When the facility demonstrated symptoms of deterioration, SKA was hired to evaluate the brick masonry exterior walls, prepare construction documents for replacement of the brick at the northeast and northwest corners of the facility, installation of new vertical expansion joints to replace the existing joints, installation of horizontal expansion joints below shelf angles, installation of new through-wall flashing, installation of new metal studs, sheathing and water barrier at ground floor columns, and tuckpointing of deteriorated mortar joints.
