Buncombe County Parking Deck

Asheville, North Carolina

Working with Keith Hargrove Architects, PLLC, SKA performed full-service engineering services, including structural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection engineering, for the design of a new parking deck for Buncombe County in Asheville, North Carolina. The deck is a seven-level, three-bay post-tensioned, cast-in-place concrete structure. A deep foundation system consisting of 20-inch diameter auger cast piles with pile caps was used to support the columns and walls. The 650-space deck is located between the Bank of America and the County Health Center off of College Street in Asheville. The deck is used by County employees and the public and provides parking convenience for visitors of the Health Center, Courthouse and City Hall.
