Emory University Woodruff PE Building

Atlanta. Georgia

SKA was commissioned by Emory University to conduct a comprehensive condition assessment and evaluation of the plaza deck roof and building envelope to determine the causes and sources of water intrusion through the plaza roof, skylights, planters and exterior walls. SKA also conducted a condition assessment and evaluation of the structural concrete framing system over the roof of the gymnasium and natatorium.

SKA submitted a report identifying the causes and sources of water intrusion with recommendations to address the moisture problems. SKA prepared construction documents for a new plaza manufactured thermoplastic sheet membrane installed under pavers to stop the water intrusion problems. SKA also provided structural and mechanical/electrical/plumbing engineering design services for additions and renovations to this facility, including new heating and ventilation systems for a future covered tennis area, plumbing, HVAC, lighting and power for new locker rooms, new tennis court lighting system, and mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection design for a new weight room and aerobics area.
