Forsyth County Government CenterWinston-Salem, North CarolinaCloseSKA began providing structural engineering services in 1999 to Forsyth County and a local architect on the complete renovation of three interconnected buildings built by the R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, labeled “12-1”, “12-2” and “12-4”. Building 12-1 was originally constructed in 1915, Building 12-2 was built in 1917 and Building 12-4 in 1967. SKA conducted a condition assessment and evaluation of the existing structural systems in these buildings and prepared designs and construction documents for structural repairs to the cast-in-place concrete members in Buildings 12-1 and 12-2, modifications to Building 12-1 for use as a parking deck, modifications to Building 12-2 for a new atrium, escalator, stairs and miscellaneous stores, modification of the upper floors and roof of Building 12-4 to accommodate larger rooms, a new stair tower, and new retaining walls. SKA also provided extensive construction inspection services on this complex project. |
