Kimpton – Large-scale Mixed-use

SKA was selected to provide electrical engineering services for the renovation of the former Reynolds American, Inc. headquarters in downtown Winston-Salem, North Carolina. The building is being converted into a mixed-use facility that will include a boutique hotel, managed by the Kimpton Hotel & Restaurant Group of Philadelphia, on the bottom six floors. The seventh through twentieth floors will be converted into 120 luxury rental apartments. SKA will work with the electrical contractor for the project to produce the engineering drawings for the entire electrical system, which will include new fire alarm, power and data communication lines throughout the building, as well as separate meters for the hotel, restaurant and each apartment. SKA will install several new large transformers, which will need ventilation and space around them to meet requirements for a historic building. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2016.
