Sandpiper RunPawleys Island, South CarolinaCloseSKA recently completed the final stages of a project consisting of window and door, stucco facade, roof and green roof and structural concrete renovations at two beach front condominiums in Pawleys Island, South Carolina for the Sandpiper Run Council of Co-Owners. Over 588 windows and doors along the balconies and courtyards and over 40,000-square-feet of stucco were replaced with new weather protective wall coatings. Renovations also included the replacement of all existing exterior wood stud walls along the balconies and portions of the courtyard walls with new stud framing, insulation and exterior sheathing, the replacement of guard rails and hand rails for the walkways, stairways and balconies, as well as new exterior coating and flashing systems for the walkways, balconies, soffits, parapet and exterior walls. Selective replacement was used at significantly distressed reinforced concrete and prestressed concrete components, while thermal spray galvanic protection was used as a solution to extend the service-life of balcony slabs in coastal exposure. Additional phases of work included installation of a green roof over parking and roof renovations. Click here for tech notes/case study: Building Envelope Case Study Sandpiper Run |
