Steven Tanger Center for Performing ArtsCloseThe $85 million Steven Tanger Center for the Performing Arts features a 3,000 seat auditorium with a single balcony. The tiered seating was designed to provide uninterrupted sight-lines to the stage. The stage features a full orchestra pit, design for a future trap door, forestage and main stage rigging grids, and a 100 foot tall hoistway. SKA served as the structural engineer for the project through design and construction as well as serving as the special inspector and providing peer review of the building envelope. Our role as the structural engineer included design of the overall building frame which includes six distinct roof elevations, five floor levels, a basement level, and five catwalk and rigging levels. SKA also provided design of exterior canopy, interior and exterior vestibule enclosures, the grand stairs in the main lobby, and site retaining walls adjacent to the structure. |
