Bellemeade Parking Deck Pedestrian Bridge

SKA provided prime design, bidding, and construction administration services for a new pedestrian bridge connection at the fifth level over an alley between two adjacent parking decks. One parking deck is owned by the City of Greensboro and the other is owned by Lincoln Financial Group (LFG). The bridge side rails and deck were precast concrete.  The roof was steel framed with standing seam metal roofing. This project is notable in that the bridge required cutting of a long span structural spandrel beam in the LFG deck. The cut spandrel had to be stabilized and resupported on precast concrete framing below. The precast framing below the cut spandrel was reinforced with external post-tensioning to support the weight of the cut spandrel and the bridge.
