Cape Fear Community College Union StationWilmington, North CarolinaCloseCape Fear Community College is the sixth largest community college in North Carolina with over 28,000 students. The Union Station facility serves as the college’s conference center, offering premier event services with luxury amenities, including ballrooms, open-air terrace, breakout classrooms, green room, training facilities, lecture and recital hall, and a café. During construction, SKA field water tested the curtain wall glazing systems in general accordance with AAMA 503 “Voluntary Specification for Field Testing of Storefronts, Curtain Walls and Sloped Glazing Systems” to test the integrity of the building envelope design and construction. To conduct the field water testing, AAMA 503 references ASTM E 1105 “Standard Test Method for Field Determination of Water Penetration of Installed Exterior Windows, Skylights, Curtain Walls, and Doors by Uniform or Cyclic Static Air Pressure Difference.” SKA performed a total of thirty-six (36) AAMA 503 field water tests. This included the re-testing of twelve (12) curtain wall systems that did not pass the initial test procedure.
