City of Greensboro Veterans MemorialGreensboro, North CarolinaCloseSKA assisted the City of Greensboro in preserving a piece of the city’s history and heritage and honored the sacrifices of our city’s veterans with the creation of a new downtown Veteran’s Memorial. Dedicated by the city on Veteran’s Day, 2014, the new memorial wall now houses the stone plaque that previously was displayed in the War Memorial Auditorium, which is slated for demolition. In addition to the plaque, brick from the War Memorial Auditorium was salvaged and used to construct the memorial wall in an effort to help preserve the environment and the memories of the Auditorium that was a vital part of the Greensboro community for decades. The new memorial proudly displays flags for all branches of the armed forces as well as name plaques of local veterans that have proudly served our Country over the years. SKA provided prime design services, which included structural and electrical engineering, as well as construction administration and special inspection services on the project. |
