Smoky Mountain High School Gymnasium & Performing Arts Building

The new Gymnasium and Performing Arts Building consisted of a new two story 41,030 sf Gymnasium / Locker Room with seating for 1,500 and a new 16,000 sf Theater with seating for 754. The upper level of the Gymnasium was a basketball court which required a special attention to vibration during the structural design of the elevated floor that clear spanned 41’-0”. The structure consisted of structural steel framing with concrete steel beam composite floor construction.
