Spears Family YMCA

SKA provided the structural engineering design services for a large YMCA facility in Greensboro, North Carolina. The new facility features two gymnasiums with a total of three basketball courts, locker rooms, three workout rooms for aerobics, weight training room and nautilus equipment room, and natatorium as well as associated office spaces. The structure features large column-free areas with long-span trusses in the gymnasiums and pool. Otherwise, the building is of load-bearing masonry and light framed steel construction.
