Union County Judicial and Government Centers Envelope Assessment

SKA was retained by Union County Government as a building envelope consultant to perform a comprehensive condition assessment at the Judicial and Government Center buildings in Monroe, North Carolina. The Judicial Center is a five-story, facility constructed in the early 2000s. The exterior envelop consists of brick masonry veneer with precast concrete accents, aluminum-framed punched and storefront windows and an EPDM, single-ply roof membrane. The Union County Government Center is a four-story Jail and ten-story mid-rise tower that is 30+ years old. The exterior envelop consists of exposed, concrete columns, brick masonry veneer panels, aluminum-framed stacked windows and a modified-bitumen roof membrane. The assessment included visual survey, infrared survey, water testing, and exploratory facade opening review. SKA provided a comprehensive report that included recommendations and opinions regarding the service life and cost estimates for repairs.
