Building Science

Building Science is the collection of knowledge that focuses on the analysis and control of the physical phenomena affecting buildings. Much of building science includes the detailed study of building materials and building envelope systems, especially regarding material compatibilities and performance in different environments. SKA uses building science to optimize building performance and to understand and prevent building failures. As designers, SKA’s role is to stay up-to-date with the latest industry technologies so products are specified and installed correctly.

Creative, precise and thorough in approach, SKA’s staff is trained to use some of the most advanced building science software (WUFI), which analyzes hygrothermal (moisture and heat) transfer through walls and roofs, and (THERM), which models thermal movement through building materials. Clients deserve the highest quality repair designs possible, and SKA provides this through experience and understanding of building science.
